No issues on installing them on my Fender Custom Shop ' 63 vintage guitar. They look good, work great, and are much easier to string and tune.5 GOTOH SD91 MG-T Thumbwheel locking tuners.Easy to install, even by a rookie with no skills. Need only a small phillips screwdriver, and heavy set of pliers. Perfect fit on a Fender Classic Player Jaguar HH. Stock ewquipped with 'Kluson' looking (probably knock off) 6-inline tuners. Posted by Excellent in look, feel and function. I put them on a vintage style partscaster that I wanted to retain a vintage look to the guitar. Posted by Massimo Salvatore on Jul 22, 2019Įxcellent service very fast shipping great locking Tuners easy installation very happy I' ve got another partscaster and I' ll be ordering another set. Perfect drop in fit and they work fantastic! Purchased 2 sets for a 20 Highway One Texas Tele' s.5 GOTOH SD91 MG-T Thumbwheel Locking Tuning Machine.Very well designed and functioning well worth the modest expense. I will definitely use similar products by GOTOH and use Philadelphia Luthier Tools and Supplies in the future. Very good replacement of standard tuners on my Fender Squier Classic Vibe 50s.Įxternal diameter of Gotoh bushings were slightly bigger than standard (~0.1mm). In my case it was enough using clamp to press them inside.I wanted to upgrade stock tuners on some of my Gibson guitars. These Schallers at first seemed a perfect choice. Having read mostly positive reviews, I bought two sets at once. They came in packed in very nice boxes, reminding of a new iPhone. The tuners simply don't fit the headstocks of my Gibson guitars (SG, ES, LP): the supplied shims make the position of the string hole too low to the extent that is it partially blocked by the screw nut that holds the tuner. Well, this can be to some extent overcome by using Gibson's stock shims instead of the ones that are supplied with the Schaller tuners. Gotoh® 6 In Line Vintage Style Locking Tuning MachinesThese Gotoh® Vintage Style locking tuning machines are a direct retrofit to a vintage-sized peghole that maintains a classic look. Yet the sting holes remain too low (which is ridiculous given Gibson headstocks are all angled and do not require directing strings downward as Fenders do). No drilling or modification to your headstock while giving you the added stability of a modern locking tuning machine. Includes mounting screws and vintage 8.8mm O.D. As a result, I could barely put the bass E string into the hole in the tuner (it was a 0.46 gauge). So, if you use thicker strings, for sure the low E string would not come through.Ģ. The 1st E string could not be clamped in position properly and kept creeping out of the lock (as I was turning the tuner to tune up the string, the tone remained the same or even dropped as the string was slipping out of the lock).ģ. Upon installation, all strings did not stay in tune even after a couple of re-adjustments. Compared to Fender locking tuners, the difference in the tuning stability is huge.Ĥ. One of the tuners was outright defective (too loose). Thus, I'm sending back both sets, which to my regret Thomann will have to handle somehow with Schaller.Īnd, quite obviously, I cannot recommend this product because, in my opinion, it is a total fiasco. Overall, I now consider Schaller products as poor quality and not Gibson-friendly, as the whole situation reminds me of Schaller strap locks whose installation on a Gibson guitar is similarly a big problem, especially with the screw in the lower part of the guitar, let alone other well known issues with these locks. Strings: Elixir Nanoweb Light (.010/.013/.017/.026/.036/.That's not what we, guitar lovers, expect from the stereotypically superb German engineering.Like all instruments in our E-II Series, the Eclipse DB is made in Japan at ESP’s Tokyo factory. The E-II Eclipse DB includes high-end components like Schaller Straplocks, Gotoh locking tuners, and a Gotoh TOM bridge and tailpiece. It features a mahogany body with maple cap, a one=piece mahogany neck, and an ebony fingerboard with 22 extra-jumbo frets. A set-neck design, it's easy to get quickly up to the highest frets. Powered by a set of EMG 60 (neck) and EMG 81 (bridge) pickups, it's ready for everything from deep and contemplative sounds to the most screaming, aggressive tones imaginable. But the E-II Eclipse DB is more than a killer-looking instrument it's also one of our finest-playing guitars. It starts with a great combination of Vintage Black finish and age-yellowed multi-binding with gold hardware. The ESP E-II Eclipse DB is inarguably one of the coolest-looking guitars in the entire ESP offering.
